CR450 Technological Innovation Project Shines at the 8th CIIE

On November 5, the 8th China International Import Expo opened at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. The CR450 Technological Innovation Project made a striking appearance, showcasing China’s latest high-speed railway innovations through interactive and immersive displays. It attracted a large number of visitors, becoming a focal point of the exhibition.

Launched in 2021, the CR450 project has overcome key technical challenges in permanent magnet traction, vibration and noise reduction, and drag and energy consumption reduction, generating a series of research achievements. On December 29, 2024, the CR450 prototype was unveiled in Beijing. Its main technical indicators are internationally leading, and testing has been carried out on multiple high-speed railway lines. The train set has achieved a new record of 453 km/h for a single train and a relative passing speed of 896 km/h. For the first time, a top-level performance index system for 400 km/h train sets was established, further consolidating China’s technological leadership in high-speed rail.

The exhibition area, located in the “Comprehensive National Strength Enhancement” section of the China Pavilion, features the CR450 livery on the exterior. Inside, two prototype models are displayed along with a curved large screen. Visitors can watch immersive 3D films via touchscreens to experience high-speed test simulations, or explore the train cab and carriages through a VR panoramic tour, directly appreciating the technological charm of the next-generation train set.

The CR450’s appearance at CIIE comprehensively showcases China’s independent high-speed rail innovation achievements during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. CR will continue advancing the project, planning full-scale tests under near-operational conditions on the Second Chengdu-Chongqing High Speed Railway next year, aiming for early commercial operation to better serve public travel.
